  • The pillow case is worked in two separate panels
  • Each panel crocheted in turned rows
  • Joined together using a zigzag slip stitch joining method
  • The turning chain does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.
  • Always skip the stitch directly behind each front post puff stitch.
  • Front post puff stitches are always worked around the post of the stitch two rows below.

To avoid distortion or curling of the fabric, make sure to work front post puff stitches loosely and evenly. Excess tension on front post stitches can cause the pattern to lean or tighten.

Row 1: Ch 47, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; ch 1, turn – 46 sts.

Rows 2-63: Sc in first st and each st across; ch 1, turn – 46 sts.

Do not fasten off. The working loop on the hook will be used to begin joining. Once finished, the back panel should measure approximately 15 inches [37.5 cm] in width and 15.5 inches [39 cm] in height (click to enlarge).

Place both panels side by side with the right sides facing up, aligning all edges evenly.

The panels are joined along the edges using a zigzag slip stitch joining method, worked alternately from one panel to the other.

Start joining at the edge where the yarn is attached after finishing the back panel:

  • 1. Insert your hook into the next stitch along the edge of the front panel from front to back. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all loops on the hook, completing a slip stitch.
  • 2. Then insert the hook into the corresponding stitch along the edge of the back panel from front to back. Yarn over and pull the yarn through all loops on the hook, completing a slip stitch.
  • 3. Continue repeating Steps 1 and 2, alternating between the front and back panels, working evenly along the edge until the panels are joined.

Repeat these 4 steps, alternating in a gentle zigzag motion from one panel to the other, working evenly along the edge until the panels are joined.

Take care not to pull too tightly to keep the seam flexible and flat.
